Ohana means Family (Stitch)

Did a Stitch/Hawaiian theme nail design Stitch as in the Lilo and Stitch but my client wanted to keep it only with Stitch. Used a combination of gels (soak-off) nail polishes and acrylic paint to create this look.
The base color is Gel from Nubar 'Baby Blue' topped with Glitter. Used a bunch of Orly nail polishes for the flowers and for Stitch. All hand-drawn im particularly very proud of how the thumbs came out with
Aloha and Ohana.
hope you like it as much as I had fun doing it

Ombré Pedicure

Hello hello We have finally found summer here in California. So far it's been very nice but the heat wave is in the building.

The best part is you get to flaunt those pedicured feet (which I love)

Did a late night pedicure yesterday.

This is the inspiration, although I switch the dark tone to light.

Squared the toes to perfection and polished them with Orly 'Day Glow' from the summer 'Feel the Vibe' collection. It's not your ordinary white nail polish. It has a soft bluish shimmer that when seen up close gives and iridescent shade.

This color has so much potential even on its on.

I then sponged in the bottom colors letting them over lap. Using a sponge of course lol.

Here's the finished look, perfect for flaunting those sexy toes.

Used Nicole by OPI 'my life saver' and Orly 'Lollipop'

Hope this gives you a basic idea on how to re-create this look.

A twist on the classic French Tip

Lately most of my clients have asked for French tip and my own mother personally loves French tip with a twist. A pink line above the tip, glitter, accent nail etc... My nails have finally grown and look fantastic I've been strutting the square shape for a while. Did a fourth of July nail design that made me fall in love with the French tip. Everyone kept asking if they were acrylic nails. My answer NOPE these are my natural nails. Feels good to say that lol.

Anyways my boss at the spa loves French tip specially black tip with gold glitter. I was never to fond of it until i tried it on myself. Let me tell you I love how this design came out. It can go in any direction looks goth, classic, elegant. pretty, sophisticated, professional , romantic etc...

This is an Orly Gel Fx nail design (soak-off gel)
everything is hand-drawn (no stickers) with glitter.

I'm officially ambidextrous i've master doing both my hands French tip (quite a challenge)

Roses on thumbs too

Can you 'Feel the Vibe'

You better be wearing sunglasses coz these colors will blind you.
I finally found time to sit and write this review on the new Orly summer collection 'Feel the Vibe'. So far I've bought the brightest ones out of the entire collection. Will probably buy the blue one but not the white or black one. Which i wish they would of added a purple and green rather than the white and black.

Here's the entire collection

Anyways i'm completely in love with this collection its extremely loud you don't even need a design. These colors speak for themselves. I bought 'Glowstick', 'Beach Cruiser' and 'melt your Popsicle'

This is exactly how bright they are no filter no photo-shop their extremely bright.

my clients are also obsessed with these shades.

These aren't like most bright neon colors that look amazing but when applied go dull and dark.
These actually are a true match to the bottle.
I recommend to use CND Supper Shinny top coat.
It really works fantastic with these colors.

Beach Cruiser mani pedi

manicure on myself with 'GlowStick'

Pedicure with Glowstick

Pedicure with 'Melt your Popsicle'

Aren't they out of this world amazing?
FYI Keep in mind that these colors look different on depending on your skin tone.

If your fair skin the color will look a lot less brighter than that of a darker tone.
So ring in the summer with these bright shades.

Well Hello there Kitty!

Just did a midnight manicure on myself with these adorable metal Hello Kitty's that i bought! This is a complete Orly Gel FX manicure. I hand-drew the flowers, love how Haute Red is so vibrant. I custom made the accent nail color using Orly's White Tips and Bare Rose. It came out very peachy.

Groovy Baby

Hello, hello I'm back and with a brand new nail design haven't seen it anywhere else. So here's to making it the latest nail trend lol! I created a tie-dye nail design, very groovy! This an all Soak-off gel manicure 'Orly Gel FX' first i did the blue base then i created a spiral with all the colors in the middle and lastly dragged each color into one another. I absolutely am completely in love with the final results. As soon as i get my hands on bright colors like Yellow or Orange ill create a much colorful one. But this one is very subtle and cute perfect for work. Check out my natural nails they finally grew and look so beautiful except for the middle finger it broke :(

Here are some pictures of the colors and tools i used.
Also here's another picture of my wonderful Orly Gel FX LED lamp.

Peace & Love

All hand made

took me a while but i managed to do it on my right hand

 Colors used

the perfect tool for fine streaks Orly Detail-er brush

Here's a zoom view of the detail-er brush (YES it's extremely fine)

And last but not least my wonderful, fantastic Orly Gel FX LED lamp i will be writing a review on it so stay tune for that post

Bye bye Smudges

Product Review: Nicole by OPI 'Drying Drops'

Why I love it? I can apply my polish and continue with my regular routine without having to wait.

Why it works? I wasn't able to find the main ingredients, as to why it dries so rapidly. But the way it

Why you'll love it? If your a girl on the go like me, you can now D.I.Y your nails in between tasks.

Where you can purchase it? At any retail store like Target, Walgreen, Vons or online Amazon

Are you tired of having to wait for your nail polish to dry? I know i was until i found a great product that cuts half of the drying time and allows me to continue with my day.

Nicole by OPI 'Drying Drops' works like a charm. You do your regular polish application wait a minute or two till the top coat has adhere to the polish and apply 1-2 drops. Your nail polish will be completely dry in about 5 minutes. You won't have to worry about going to sleep right after and waking up with sheet marks.

I will admit that I've had this product for quite a long time and had never put it to the test. Until last night when I wanted to polish my tips but also wanted to go sleep right after. Tried it a minute after my top coat waited about 10 minutes and i woke up with amazing nails.

Several brands carry drying drops and I'm sure most of them have the same ingredients but the Nicole by OPI is supper cute and comes in travel size. Bought mine at Target for about $15+

Don't take my word for it, give it a try.

the begining of Acrylic nail designs

I'm back I've been m.i.a for quite some time. Just started a great new job in which I'm extremely happy. Haven't had time to do that many designs. Anyway if you follow me on my facebook nail page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Karla-Nail-Design/193176844050046 Karla Nail Design you will know that i just purchased my first Organic Nails collection 'African'.

A little about Organic Nails from what my friend and former class mate Jackie Lopez taught me.Organic Nails is an acrylic system i believe its a well known Mexican brand. Pricey but very good quality the color pigments are very concentrated and always have true colors. I hadn't been able to purchase any but i finally did.. I bought the 'African' Organic Collection which is exactly like the name. Its these gorgeous wild, intense and very fierce colors.

My 'African' Organic Collection

Another friend of mine Saki loves long stiletto nails and forward me a picture of Anna Del Rey strutting these awesome nails.

I will be doing them on Saki really soon but wanted to freshen up my skills and came out with my version.

I must say for being my first time there not that bad

I used the Red 'Canoe' from the 'African' Collection of Organic Nails

On the index finger i did a 3D design and encapsulated it.

 Final product came out gorgeous

The Hunger Games

I'm a new fan of The Hunger Games trilogy. Read the 1st book in less than a week and now I'm almost finish with the 2nd book. Everyone who i swore and vowed to that i would never read this trilogy you can now say "I told you so"

I was very reluctant into becoming a fan of these books. I felt like it was no longer part of my generation.
Like Harry Potter was, after-all i did grow up on Harry Potter. Since i turned 25 i kept telling myself that i would leave The Hunger Games out of my life. I wouldn't even bother to watch the movie trailer or give it a shot. Until a lot of my friends started telling me how good it was. That still didn't work, but then I saw how big it was getting and had to see for myself what the big fuss was about. Now im so glad that I did i became an instant fan after the first chapter. It has such a great plot and i feel like the story line is so realistic. There's absolutely no magic, vampires or wear-wolfs. I have given in to temptation and can honestly say I'm enjoying every page. With that said if you haven't read it i highly recommend it.

Now check out my Inspired Nail Design

Used: Nicole by OPI 'Razzle Dazzler, 'The Right Thing'

The Lorax 'Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss'

This has become my favorite theme nail design.
For the 2nd year straight I give you my Dr. Seuss inspired nail design in honor of his birthday.
Also given that one of the movies adapted by his books comes out today.
I decided to kill two birds with one stone by doing the Lorax.

The Lorax was published in 1971.
'The Lorax' is a creature who tries to save the Truffula trees from being cut down. By the 'Once-Ler' who is building his invention in the land. The Lorax pleads and speaks on behalf of nature.

Inspiration The Lorax
