  1. Hey I am Liz or Aliza lol
I have been through alot in life and just like you as I went through my hard times I discovered I loved nail polish and loved to do nails mostly toes!! I was born to 2 parents who loved and cared for drugs more than they cared for me and that was a struggle for me... I was taken away from my parents 5 times before I was finally taken away for good...I was later taken to a foster home and I hated every bit of it but I always felt like I was good for nothing like my parents but I was wrong I discovered a passion for nail polish and designs and that kind of helped I am now adopted and I absolutelly adore my family and am grateful for them they encourage my dream to becoming a cosmetologist and I am grateful for the storm so I could more fully appreciate the sun!

  3. Hey girl!
My name is Rebecca Brill, and I suffered from Acute Siunitis for almost my whole life. It has really affected me because I used to swim, but partially because of my illness, partly because of finances, I had to quit the sport I loved. It killed me to give up the water, but I did because it seemed like that was what God wanted me to do!
Now, I am in college and I decided to try again to swim. I was out of practice, but after lots of hard work and encouragement of friends and family I have pushed past the exhaustion of my Siunitis and now swim pseudo competitively. Some days are better than others, but God has always been faithful to me!
As to nail polish, I am an art major at school and enjoy painting my own/ blessing others by giving them manicures. Its such a therapeutic way to bond/encourage other women. I LOVE color and try to give a little bit of color/life to those I interact with each day. My nails are a visual reminder to me to be that piece of sunshine every day to others.
Thanks for this opportunity to share a bit of my life with you!God bless!

  4. I suffer from depression and I finally got help a couple of years ago. My doctor and husband saved me! I have learned to overcome my obstacles by learning what was triggering them. I won't get too much into it (kinda personal, and you said just a couple sentences :)) but I have a new outlook on life and love it to the fullest and I would not have been able to get here today if I would not have gone to the doctor to get help and realize how to overcome my problems.

  5. Hello! I've always been this shy girl who would be the 'invisible one' at school. My self esteem were always low because no one would really talk to me. However, I found a group of friends who really support and encourage me to be outspoken and I am thankful that they are there for me.

I want to say that you are one talented girl! I recently got twitter so I followed you :) my user is appa826. hehe appa from the cartoon avatar! And my fb name is anne sheubaccaandfriends :)

  6. wow these are all amazing stories! Thank you for sharing them with me! Keep your head held high and try your best each and everyday! btw goodluck

  7. My husband and I have been married only 1.5 years and it's been very difficult. We've had a death in the family, another family member be diagnosed with a fatal disease, and an addiction discovered. I too use nail polish and mani/pedis to relax. I keep going cause I want to be a mom someday!

  8. Hi, Karla
For me, my most difficult moments were when I was the victim of a bully at work. It didn't help that most of the other employees were also afraid of the bully, so there wasn't a lot of support there. Luckily, I had my family and friends to lean on, and with the help of a counselor, I was finally brave enough to take a stand and filed a complaint. It was a long process, but in the end, everything worked out for the best.
Your strength during this difficult period of your life is truly inspiring.

  9. I was diagnosed with clinical depression my sophomore year of college and I watched my GPA drop and my sanity escape me. I felt as though my dreams of ever becoming a medical doctor were over, but with a lot of encouragement and hope I am pushing forward, focusing on the present and the future and not the past. I learned that I can make it, we struggle in life to learn resilience, falling only makes you stronger.

  10. One of the most difficult things in my life is my battle with an axiety disorder and bipolar disorder which led to my struggle with addiction. These things caused me a lot of physical and mental harm and have hurt the loved ones around me; there were times I really thought I wasn't going to make it. But I did and getting through all that taught me how to be conscious of my actions, to celebrate each day that I am alive, and to appreciate my loved ones for sticking through it with me. Also, I learned that painting my nails helps me calm my anxiety and distract my from my cravings.
Side Note: I wanted to say that your blog inspires me. It is nice to know that someone else out there finds help in something as simple as nail polish. You have made me a major fan here in Southern California!

  11. First of all I'm glad I found your blog.

Today I hold a miracle in my arms :) To make a long story short I was told by three doctors I would never have a baby and here he lies in my arms. I went through a long health battle which almost cost me my life. It is by Gods grace I was in the right doctors hands at the right time. One that finally listened to me. Having my baby is what's actually led me to doing my nails and discovering I am capable of things I didn't know I could do before. I had a beautiful home birth too.

  12. WOW!!! (Tissue Time)

These stories are amazing! After reading them, I feel like my battle with Thyroid cancer is small cookies! As much as I love nail polish..I know that your prize will bring one of these winners the happiness that I already have in my heart. I'm truly blessed everyday and thank God for giving me the strength to keep on going.

    Good luck!

  13. Wow! You have such an amazing story. I'm really touched.

My biggest obstacle was moving to the US and not knowing the language. I used to cry every day because people would make fun of me or I didn't fit in. I learned the language and am still trying every day to no care what others think. I love how nail polish can bring people together and let everyone show their own unique creativity.

Thanks so much for this contest :)

  14. Anutka thank you so much for entering and sharing something so personal about your life. I'm sorry that people would make fun of you for not speaking the language. But you it's so great that, that didn't make you give up. Keep on learning and this will just be a memory in your life.

  15. Michi yes these stories are amazing, they help me realize that i need to try my hardest and not give up!

Thank you for entering and sharing about your life. I used to hear about depression and i didn't understand how depression would affect them so much. Until i had depression my self and i can relate to how difficult it is. Nothing makes you happy. It's like your no longer part of this world. I'm so glad that you got help and that now you have a different perspective on life.

    Take Care

  23. rmb:

thank you for entering and for sharing something so personal about yourself.

Financial problems always break our dreams. And illnesses are so difficult to deal with. I'm sorry that you had to quit something you loved so much. But I'm so glad you have been able to swim all over again. With perseverance and strength we can overcome any obstacle (I have to remember that myself when i fall completely down)

I'm too a very colorful person i love color and color put a smile on my face. So i understand where your coming from. That's how i started this journey that i love so much.

Manis and pedicures are very relaxing and a good way to chit-chat with friends or even strangers. Everyone always has a story to tell sometimes we just need to listen!

Take care and God Bless you as well!

  24. Liz, thank you for entering i believe you were the first post!

Sorry i have taken so long to reply but my days have been too much!

Your story is very inspiring, most of us or at least myself have had the blessing of having parents who have always been there. After all that's what parents should do. I'm so sorry you didn't have your parents there for you. That's so horrible that they prefer drugs and such a difficult lifestyle rather than choosing you.

But i'm sure your a terrific person and i'm so glad you were adopted by people who can appreciate the person you are. Never give up don't let your parent's decisions affect you. Your in this world for a reason. And good luck becoming a cosmetologist.

Take care and good luck on your path to your career!
